Baphomet is a pagan deity (from medieval Latin Baphometh, baffometi, Occitan Bafometz) depicted as an Idol to their worshippers.
The Knights Templar were accused of worshiping it. Since mid 19th century, Baphomet is often represented as a "Sabbatic Goat", for the goat is associated with Satan in popular christian folk tradition in Europe.
Broken Sword: The Shadow of The TemplarsEdit
Baphomet is part of the game's main plot, connected to the templars.
Tradition has it that during the battle of Bannockburn, the Scots were helped by a shock force of a group of outlawed Templars. They are said to have turned the tide for the Scots against the Britains.
On the "Site de Baphomet - Institut Hermétique de Nerval" (Paris, France), a stone head bears three bearded faces. It was a strange image but a powerful one, redolent with antiquity and ancient mysteries. The statue is beneath the foundations. It was discovered by some workmen while renovating the building. The base of the statue is carved with Templar symbols.
- George: "I couldn’t think of anything to do with the statue, apart from scaring small children with it".
- The Grandmaster: "With the Sword reforged, we will have the power to sweep the stage of all opposition".
