Paris Mutual is an insurance company ran by Mr. Rickenbacker. In The Serpent's Curse, this is where George Stobbart works. It is located in Paris, France.

It provides coverage, in the form of compensation resulting from loss, damages, injury, treatment or hardship in exchange for premium payments.

The company calculates the risk of occurrence then determines the cost to replace the loss to determine the premium amount. Paris mutual has had a lot of rough patches throughout its company history. There have been a lot of fiascos where a large amount of money had to be paid. This is George’s last time to make things right.

Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse[]

Paris Mutual is hired by Henri Dubois to insure the exhibition in Le Lézard Bleu Art Gallery. The exhibition features a whole range of expensive and important paintings, but only one is said to be the most significant, “La Maledicció”.

George is sent to the exhibition by Mr. Rickenbacker to supervise it and see if all the needed standards are correct: Contracts signed, paintings hanged, and security sorted.

After “La Maledicció”'s robbery, George discovers that Henri didn’t use the security company suggested by Paris Mutual but an unknown firm “Vera Security”.

Later in the story, George meets Tiago Marqués who claims to be the owner of the painting. If Marqués is the true owner of "La Maledicció", then Medovsky has no legal claim to it. Might be tough to prove- but if George could, Paris Mutual wouldn't have to pay out the insurance.

Quotes[]

  • Mr. Rickenbacker: “Find that painting, or find a way to avoid paying out. Two ways to keep your job, Stobbart.”

Trivia[]

  • There is an unused icon from The Serpent's Curse shared by Tony Warriner on his blog that shows an alternative name for this company: "Montmartre Garantie". It can be seen on the Gallery below.
